The parable of the unjust (Presidential) race: An election parable for the discerning

Jesus loved to speak in parables for many reasons, often to bring conviction upon the Pharisees and Sadducees who saw themselves as righteous but our Lord referred to them as”hypocrites, vipers, and whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean (Matt 23:27),” and with good reason. He didn’t call what He saw as evil good. He is Truth, therefore, only spoke the truth.

And as God’s children who have the Truth living inside of us, how can we call what is evil good? Or align ourselves with lawlessness?

The parable of the unjust race

There was a major race of significant importance, the stadium filled with 30,000 plus onlookers at the edge of their seats. “Who will win the race?” they wondered aloud. Millions watched from home online from all over the world.

The runners in their readied positions heard the start gun and took off.

A minute passed and already several runners trailed way behind the two that were now in the lead.

Another minute passed, and one of the leading runners sprinted and took a significant, undeniable lead. The crowd roared for it was the favored runner of the majority, DJ. It looked like it was over for the runner in second place, FJ, for the race was almost over.

Suddenly, like dark magic, FJ, began to speed up, making otherworldly long strides, fast approaching DJ. Just as DJ’s foot touched the finish line, FJ, flew past him but not before shoving DJ backwards with all his might.

An audible gasp filled the stadium. People worldwide couldn’t believe their eyes.

Smoke began to rise from the back of FJ’s sneakers who quickly kicked them off and shouted, “I won! I won! Peace and unity! Peace and unity!”

DJ picked up the shoes and said, “These shoes are rigged. Some sort of mechanism is exposed. He cheated. I won. Didn’t anyone see I crossed the finish line before he pushed me away?”

Cameras panned focusing on the people all over the stadium to get their reactions.

The men and women in the box seats clothed in dark robes rubbed their hands together and laughed maniacally.

Men and women with drowsy countenances wearing blue shirts with crosses also cheered for FJ’s win. They sat in the best front row seats.

The majority of the men and women who wore red shirts with crosses sat in stunned silence and disbelief. They sat in the mid level seats.

Then scattered about the stadium in the nosebleed section, the worse seats available, were some clothed in white from head to toe whose faces shown with light, peace, and joy.

Again FJ shouted, “I won! I won! Peace and unity!”

Those dressed in white whose faces shone brightly were filled with righteous indignation. Then the still, small voice of the One whose name is Truth came to them: “Pray.”

Each one of light, peace, and joy began to notice the others who were seated alone, isolated in the top rows. They QUIETLY AND PEACEFULLY left their seats. And being one in Spirit with the Lord, they found each other, gathered, and began to pray knowing the One whom they loved would hear and answer.

As they were praying, those dressed in dark robes left their box seats and rushed FJ, picked him up, and declared him the winner.

Those in blue rejoiced.

Those in red shrugged their shoulders and said, “I guess it’s over. Must be Truth’s will. Let’s go home.” And they departed.

Those dressed in white refused the words they could hear over the speaker system declaring FJ as the rightful winner of the race as did many thousands watching worldwide whose faces also shone with light, peace, and joy.

Scripture came to their remembrance as they prayed, “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?” (2 Cor 6:13-15).

And those who loved Truth agreed amongst one another that even if the rest of the world made the decision to agree with lawlessness and congratulate FJ as the winner, they would not.

In Truth, they could not, as the One whom they loved saw cheating as lawlessness, and they began to discern the grief of Truth’s heart and wept before Him in unison.

For many rejected the truth, righteousness, and justice and chose to align themselves with lawlessness. But those who knew Truth knew He hated every injustice that comes against His own.

His bright ones vowed to choose Truth over the fear of man. For they loved the Truth and knew His heart broke for DJ as well. That His Father heart hated how his son was treated.

So, Truth searched for hearts He could find to stand in the gap for Him in prayer so that His son, DJ, could have full justice and vindication. And that total justice could come to FJ and all those who plotted with Him.

The Truth saw better than anyone what happened to His dear son, DJ, and was deeply grieved by all affected by the lawlessness against him.

So those whose faces shone bright, declared to one another, also confirming their covenant with the One who is Truth and Light, that they will not have ANY agreement with lawlessness, darkness, and the works of darkness they had witnessed.

They promised the One who is Truth and Just that their lips would never refer to FJ as the winner of the race for they knew how He saw it: DJ WON.

They were called to come up higher with Him and only called what was evil, evil, and what was good, good. For Truth hates evil. Because they knew Truth intimately, they also knew that evil men prospering was not Truth’s will.

They knew Truth could be counted on without fail, so they prophesied His Word as one heart:

“Wait on the Lord,
And keep His way,
And He shall exalt you to inherit the land;
When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
I have seen the wicked in great power,
And spreading himself like a native green tree.
Yet he passed away, and behold, he was no more;
Indeed I sought him, but he could not be found,” (Psalm 37:34-36).

They promised Truth they’d continue to pray for justice and vindication for DJ and the millions affected by the lawlessness of FJ and the ones cloaked in darkness who helped him.

For Truth saw who won, and Truth will not be mocked.

“You who love the Lord, hate evil!
He preserves the souls of His saints;
He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked,” (Psalm 97:10).

I’ve been in a VERY unjust situation with enemies that were too strong for me. It looked over and as if evil and destruction would always have its way. That evil would get away with making me look like the “bad guy” without case. BUT God!

You can read this powerful, personal testimony of God’s faithfulness that reveals His heart and character towards injustice especially against one of His kids.
