On Divine Healing

“Thus you have made the Word of God of no effect by your tradition,” (Matthew 15:6).

This quote by Curry Blake speaks great truth! In order to learn the truth that sets free about divine healing paid in full by Jesus Christ for ALL (Isaiah 53; 1 Peter 2:24), I had to UNLEARN everything I’d been taught in the church.

I got alone with God and His Word, fasted and prayed, and let the Spirit lead me into all truth as I prayerfully read and studied. The Lord Himself taught me and also led me to teachers of the Word rightly dividing it by the Spirit regarding healing.

Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day – Psalm 25:2.

The Word couldn’t be more clear, simple, and straightforward, yet many teachers of the Word in the church feed the sheep teachings that exalt themselves AGAINST the Word.

And who is the Word? Jesus (John 1:1), so they teach what exalts itself againt Jesus Himself. No small thing!

Surely He has borne our griefs [sickness in Hebrew]
And carried our sorrows [pains in Hebrew];
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed – Isaiah 53:4-5
.

SURELY, He has done what?

Carried OUR sicknesses and pains FOR US. Us as in ALL of us, not some mysterious few.

Let God be true and every man a liar!

By HIS stripes, we are healed.

We as in ALL who’ll receive it by faith.

Then in this verse…

By whose stripes YOU were healed – 1 Peter 2:24.

You, yes, you, WERE healed. Jesus went to the whipping post and cross. ALL His work is finished. He said it Himself: It is FINISHED!

We receive by faith, believing and not doubting, through grace alone what He already did! No need to plead and beg, He already willingly gave His body to be broken and striped for physical healing so you WERE healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5; 1 Peter 2:24).

Glory to the Lamb who was slain for all! Hallelujah!

Faith, Healing

Physical healing is included in the atonement: Not a scholar or a liar | 1 Peter 2:24 | John 5:1-15

A study of the Word and the Greek roots of 1 Peter 2:24 make it plain as the noonday sun that Jesus’ body was broken and striped to pay for PHYSICAL healing not just to atone for sin so we may be saved.

I heard a pastor once make this distinction…

Salvation is a resurrection.

Physical healing is restoration.

The Greek roots in 1 Peter 2:24 speak of restoration, repair of what was broken.

I wish I could remember the name of this author, but he said something like…

Any Bible scholar who says 1 Peter 2:24 doesn’t include physical healing is either not a scholar or is a liar.

First, I just love straight shooters like this, and second this author is 100% correct.

Who is your pastor discipling its people to be like? Jesus or the Pharisees?

Jesus loves people, gave His body and shed His blood for them. He wants people well, captives free, for people to be loosed from the devil’s oppression (Isaiah 53; Isaiah 61; 1 Peter 2:24; Luke 13; Matthew 8:16-17; Acts 10:38). And has commission us, the church, as His co-laborers and ambassadors to also heal the sick and set captives free in His name.

“Pharisees” AKA those today operating under and influenced by demonic religious spirits hate when people get free, are on satan’s side, pushing his agendas but often blind to that fact. They love their traditions and positions more than God and people and selfishly desire to hold onto those instead of seeing people set free, healed, delivered. Often refer to the gifts of the Holy Spirit as of the devil, preach against healing in Jesus’ name, and even refer to sickness (works of the devil according to Jesus) as blessings (being used to call what is evil, “good,” as the Word warns).

John 5:1-15 – A Man Healed at the Pool of Bethesda

After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches.

In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had.

Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”

The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.

And that day was the Sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”

11 He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’ ”

12 Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” 13 But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”

15 The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.

What do we see in this passage?

  • Jesus sought him out and pursued him to heal him. It’s no different today. There’s an open invitation for healing for all who’ll receive what He ALREADY did, but we must receive it by faith: “By Jesus’ stripes, we were healed,” (1 Peter 2:24).
  • Jesus didn’t rebuke him for wanting to be well or tell him he had to get his life right first and come back when he was perfect. No! He simply healed him because it’s who He is. It’s His name – Healer. It’s His kindness to us that leads us to repentance.
  • Jesus didn’t tell him to wait because he was teaching him a lesson. No! The Word says the reason Jesus became man was to destroy the works of the devil – this includes healing from physical infirmities as ALL sickness is of the devil. He wants the devil and all his works off us. Get out of churches that tell you to stay in agreement with the works of the devil in your body or your loved ones! No sickness is God’s will for you or anyone. They’re insulting the broken and striped body of Jesus Christ and His finished work and purpose for coming into the earth.
  • The only ones who hated seeing people free were the Pharisees. Anyone in the church, including pastors, who teach healing is not for today and not God’s will for all are not operating by the Word and Spirit’s leading but by one similar to the Pharisees. I literally see “Christians’ attack other Christians for saying healing is for today, paid in full for all by Jesus. Who do they sound more like in the passage above? Jesus or the Pharisees. The Word can’t lie.

He took up his bed, so he could throw it away! Jesus gave him a new beginning. He loves new beginnings. That’s why He came to make all things new and to become the Mediator of a new and better covenant, based on new and better promises. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God!

Jesus Himself became our Mediator – Job didn’t have the Christ as his Mediator which is why Christians today are not like him and can’t be like him. He wasn’t under this new and amazing covenant that we are in with God the Father through the Son. We are blessed indeed!

The Chosen, S2:E4

Flee from today’s “Pharisees” who make “the Word of God of no effect through their tradition which they have handed down.,” (Mark 7:13).

The Chosen, S2:Ep4

Jesus wants people well, including you.

Today’s “Pharisees” who have hardened their hearts to God and are under the influence of demonic religious spirits “preach” punishment, like some need to atone for our own sins through sickness, the ones Jesus already paid for. That’s works. Not grace.

So we have to earn our way through carrying sickness? No! Jesus carried it for us (Isaiah 53). We either believe Him or call Him a liar!

They preach people remaining in captivity, and the lie that God is using the works of the devil – physical infirmities – to teach people lessons. We don’t see this anywhere in the gospels.

No! Jesus healed them all and all manner of sickness and disease, NEVER referring to sickness as a blessing but ONLY as a work of the devil or oppression of the devil (Luke 13:16; Acts 10:38).

And the only things He did about these sicknesses and works of the devil? He healed and delivered people from them.

So are we called to line up our words with Jesus’ or the made up doctrines of man? The answer is obvious.

“And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you,'” (Luke 10:9).

It’s better to obey God than man.

Faith

We Must Possess the Word for Ourselves by Renewing our Minds and by Faith (it’s NOT automatic)

Photo by Wendy van Zyl on Pexels.com

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you,” (John 15:7).

Have you ever read John 15:7 and said to the Lord, “Why does it then seem the prayers of many go unanswered when every born again one has met these conditions?”

If you abide in Me.” CHECK.

Through salvation in Jesus Christ, we instantly become a part of His body.

“and my words abide in you…” CHECK

The Word, Jesus, comes to live inside us when we are saved.

So, Father God, what gives? Why do many not receive what they desire?

I heard this yesterday from Pastor Thompson and believe it is Spirit-led and filled with Spirit revelation:

“From the time Jesus was resurrected from the dead and the Holy Spirit came until His return we, are in the dispensation of grace, and all things have been given unto us.

His Word, His name, the Spirit have been given. So, we have already obtained all things doctrinally and the impartation of it into our spirit.

In Romans 12:1-2, the Word tells us to renew our minds, that the renewing of the mind, that you’ve been saved, but that’s only one part of you. That salvation has occurred in your spirit because you’ve accepted the Holy Spirit into your life. And on the inside, He has transformed you to the image of God’s dear Son.

You’re a new creation in Christ Jesus. But because you’ve become a new creation in Christ Jesus, doesn’t mean that it’s all done. He said, “Now, present your body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, and renew your mind because you are spirit, soul (mind, will, emotions), and body. And the renewing of the mind by the Word of God is when we begin to transform our outer man according to what has already happened to the inner man.

So with the inner man, once you are born again, you have it all. The Holy Spirit lives inside of you. The third person of the trinity. That means your spirit man on the inside holds the capacity of God.

Sometimes, we are so limited in our own thinking and what we esteem to be what we can accomplish or do because we look at it purely from a natural vantage point. And what we have attained by natural knowledge.

You have the Holy Spirit inside. That means your human spirit, the spiritual aspect of who you are, contains not only the nature of the new creation in Christ Jesus but the indwelling presence of the Spirit who is all things, knows all things, does all things. This is resident of the inside of us.

And when we renew our minds and present our bodies unto the Lord Jesus Christ for the rest of our lives, we are learning by the renewing of our mind what has already occurred on the inside of us, and we are drawing from those wells of salvation, knowledge, etc.

We are supernatural beings. We are not human beings have a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” – Pastor Mike Thompson, 3/14/2021

Also felt led to add some verses to expand upon his teaching as a reminder that promises are often conditional based on whether we believe God, whether we take Him for His Word, walking by faith and not by sight as every faith hall of famer did in His Word. That unbelief can be a “receiver killer.”

We must each possess the Word of God for ourselves in order to have it and for it to come to pass. It’s all not automatic.

Romans 12:1-2, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Present. Do not be conformed. Be transformed. Prove. These words convey that we must exercise our free will for this these verses to come to pass for us.

Mark 11:24, “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

Without doing Romans 12:1-2 which you’ve just read, how can we have the faith to believe and take Him for His Word in order to receive?

John 16:24, “Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”

I believe there’s a faith aspect to this verse. He IS the Word, and we must take Him for it, fully persuaded that He is able to perform it. Which leads me to the next verses.

Romans 4:20-22, “He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

We must be convinced, by the renewing of our minds through His Word, that our God who cannot lie, who is Almighty, is able to perform His promises for us.

Matthew 13:58, “Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.”

Unbelief is a “receiver killer.”

But with our minds TRULY renewed by the Word of God, unbelief dies instead, making way for us to ask and receive that our joy may be full.

And yes, we are also in a spiritual battle, and there’s most often resistance from the powers of darkness, but this is what faith is all about – we continue to take Him for His Word and YES and AMEN promises no matter what it looks like.
