Selfish Shepherds Forsaking Flocks

Ezekiel 34:1-10 is spot on in these last of the last days too!…

34 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God to the shepherds: “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks?

You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock.

The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them.

So they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered.

My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill; yes, My flock was scattered over the whole face of the earth, and no one was seeking or searching for them.

‘Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: As I live,” says the Lord God, “surely because My flock became a prey, and My flock became food for every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, nor did My shepherds search for My flock, but the shepherds fed themselves and did not feed My flock”— therefore, O shepherds, hear the word of the Lord!

10 Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require My flock at their hand; I will cause them to cease feeding the sheep, and the shepherds shall feed themselves no more; for I will deliver My flock from their mouths, that they may no longer be food for them.”

Verse 4, the part that says, “nor have you healed those who were sick,” reminds me of the partial gospel that is preached in most churches today.

It is our high calling in Christ to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God which includes salvation, bodily healing, and deliverance from demons.

As the prophesy in Ezekiel shows us plainly. We desperately need Jesus, not dependence upon man or the arm of flesh. Yes, we need each other in Christ as the family of God, but we cannot depend on others to do right by His Holy Word and therefore us.

So many “church leaders” have led many astray just like in Ezekiel 34. Astray from the simplicity that is in Christ, that everything He accomplished through His atonement and finished work are GRACE based gifts that can never be earned. That is eternal life, healing, and deliverance!

We can’t give our way to health and healing. The WORD, Jesus, is our healing. He is Healer! We need to feed on Him and His Word and stand on what He performed for us to be made well-by faith alone! Because of His grace. This is a New Covenant of Grace. Not the old covenant of works. Praise Him, church!

We are each responsible for pursuing the Lord in His Word, knowing Him and it firsthand for ourselves that we be able to to say to all those in our sphere of influence having healed them in Jesus’ name, “The kingdom of God has come near to you.”

Praise God, our True Shepherd has already come, and we can choose to obey Him and share the full gospel of the Kingdom despite what others choose to do. Hallelujah!

P.S. The intro graphic is sarcasm, not to be taken as truth. Just saying in case.
