“As for you, son of man, the children of your people are talking about you beside the walls and in the doors of the houses; and they speak to one another, everyone saying to his brother, ‘Please come and hear what the word is that comes from the Lord.’
So they come to you as people do, they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they do not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their hearts pursue their own gain.
Indeed you are to them as a very lovely song of one who has a pleasant voice and can play well on an instrument; for they hear your words, but they do not do them. And when this comes to pass—surely it will come—then they will know that a prophet has been among them.”
-Ezekiel 34:30-33
The Word of God is filled with Jesus’ words of instruction that we, His disciples, are called to do.
Our walk with the Lord is a highly active one, not a passive one. There aren’t enough words in the English vocabulary to express the fiery revelation that’s in my heart regarding the importance of our words and speaking His report (Isaiah 53:1) as part of doing His Word and releasing His will in the earth!
“I [Jesus] have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me.”
-John 17:6-8
When Jesus prays for His disciples, and therefore us, He emphasizes the importance of giving us the words which the Father had given Him. Words for our instruction that we are to open our mouths and speak to others for their salvation, healing, and deliverance. To situations, to mountains that need to be moved and cast into the sea, to demons that must loosen those who are held captive by them.
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”
-Matthew 28:18-20
But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only.
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.“
-James 1:22-24
Prayer
Lord, we pray the church continues to be a doer of the Word in these last of the last days with a greater passion and intensity than ever, observing all things You have commanded.
Put a fire is us to speak Your Word – a mighty sword to destroy the works of the devil – for the saving and setting free of the lost and captive to the enemy.
For it is not Your will that any perish nor is is Your will that Your children be bound with the works of the devil (sickness, disease, demons) in body and/or soul (mind, will, emotions).
We praise You for the precious gift of Your Word, that You have provided all the light we need to do every good work in the earth. Hallelujah! In Jesus’ name, amen.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
-2 Timothy 3:16-17
