“He sent His word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions,” (Psalm 107:20).
Lately, the Lord has been speaking to me about the seriousness of His children magnifying sickness above His Word, “By His stripes, we were healed,” (1 Peter 2:24).
To magnify any sickness above 1 Peter 2:24 is to deny the gospel of Jesus Christ and His atoning blood (Isaiah 53). It’s no small thing to do this and explains why there are so many sick Christians in the world.
If a doctor reports to a child of God that he/she has a 5% survival rate, it’s not what the bad report says, it’s what Jesus says and already accomplished through His death and resurrection. Through finishing the work of the Father: His stripes HEALED us.
Now, under the New Covenant, we receive by faith what was ALREADY done for us by Jesus – healing – just as simply as we received salvation by faith.
It’s not easier for God to forgive sins than it is for Him to heal because they’re both already done. Through Christ, we are SOZO – saved, healed, and delivered.
“Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” Immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God,” (Luke 5:23-25).
NOT receiving a promise of God is often a double-mindedness issue
“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways,” (James 1:6-8).
Born-again children of God accepted the gospel with gladness, confessed Christ, and were saved, but when it comes to believing and receiving all of the benefits of the atonement – their FULL inheritance – a great many of His children deny parts of the gospel without realizing it. It’s possible for believers to deny the very blood of Jesus, its power, and what it already accomplished for them. Thus, forfeiting parts of their inheritance in Christ.
For example, God Himself tells us, “By His stripes, we were healed,” (1 Peter 2:24). We also know from His Word that this was accomplished through the atonement (Isaiah 53). Through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
If believers pray for healing (in the most unscriptural way imaginable. Ever!), “Lord, may You heal so and so if it be Your will,”…
…what they are declaring is that they deny the blood of Jesus and stripes of Jesus Christ for their healing. It’s a prayer of unbelief that contradicts God’s truth. It’s a double-minded prayer. Not a prayer of faith.
We must believe in order to receive, and double-mindedness is not believing.
Sadly, some people who pray, “If it be God’s will,” regarding healing were taught to pray that way in church.
Even worse, they believe they are being humble before God when they pray this way for healing. Denying the shed blood of the Father’s One and Only Son, Jesus, is not humility in His eyes. But it’s truly that satan has deceived them and tricked them into denying Christ’s blood. It’s also a false humility that can often invite spirits of religion to become strongholds in that person further blinding them to His truth.
Boldly believing and not doubting, “By His stripes, we were healed,” (1 Peter 2:24) is actually a much greater form of humility than praying: “If it be God’s will,” for healing because taking Him for His actual Word means one has humbled themselves as a little child and accepted His atoning blood and stripes.
It’s a demonstration to the Lord that by believing Him they’ve humbled their hearts under His Word. No matter what they see.
There’s no condemnation in Christ when there’s doubt and unbelief, and God’s love for us NEVER wavers whether we take Him for His Word or not…
…But He’s the Ruler of His Heavenly Kingdom, and that Kingdom has laws that state,
- “The just shall live by faith,” (Romans 1:17).
- “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them,” (Mark 11:23-25).
The Lord set up His New Covenant Kingdom this way, so it would be a Kingdom based on faith AND grace. So, that no child of God could boast in their own works as to why their prayers got answered but solely be able to boast in the Lord Jesus Christ based on what He already provided. Jesus is the One who did all the work!
Hallelujah to the Lamb of God! We simply receive by faith, as a little child, what was already done based on the abundance of His grace.
Beloved of God, if you struggle to “Only believe” God’s Word, ask Him to help you with unbelief and lead you to all His truth by His Holy Spirit, and He will. It’s His delight and pleasure to do so.
“Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full,” (John 16:24).
He wants you to receive all His promises that your joy may be full. How, we praise You, Lord!
